Internal Revenue Preparing for More Church Investigations

FRC Tony Perkins Testifies before House Subcommittee

Meriam Ibrahim had been detained in a Sudanese prison for months with her 21-month-old son and newborn daughter.  Her crime was supposedly converting from Islam to Christianity (she has claimed to have never been Muslim). After petitions to President Obama and signatures from thousands of Americans, Meriam was freed and arrived safely in Italy with her family.

The following is the testimony that Tony Perkins gave to the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Africa, Global Health, Global Human Rights, and International Organizations on July 23, 2014:

“We celebrate Meriam Ibrahim and her family’s escape to freedom. It is our hope and prayer that Meriam and her family will now enjoy the liberty to practice their Christian faith without government interference or persecution.

“Meriam’s bold stand for Jesus Christ as she faced death is both an inspiration for Christians to be courageous, but also a reminder of the vigilance required to preserve and promote not just our First Freedom as Americans, but the basic human right of the freedom of religion.

“We are grateful to several members of Congress on both sides of the aisle who have worked to secure Meriam’s freedom and facilitate her entry into the United States. Particular thanks to U.S. Reps. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.), Chris Smith (R-N.J.), and House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), who were very instrumental in Meriam’s release.

“Additionally I want to applaud the efforts of other Members of Congress like Trent Franks (R-Ariz.), Frank Wolf (R-Va.) and Sens. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.), Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Mary Landrieu (D-La.) who were deeply involved in securing Meriam’s freedom. I also thank the European governments that worked to secure her release.

“The ordeal of Meriam and her family underscore the need for the Obama administration to make the promotion of religious freedom a priority at the State Department rather than an afterthought. The reality is that there are thousands of Meriams looking toward America, hoping they are not forgotten and that someone will speak out on their behalf.” (FRC.org, July 24, 2014)

Every American who is concerned about the privilege of religious liberty in the United States should be alarmed at the mentality of Islam to other religions, especially Christianity. Islam is made of radical members that worldwide total the population of the United States. These radicals hate the United States and Israel, and desire to destroy both nations by any means possible. We must be on the alert in this country and concerned about Christians in other countries who are enduring the tyranny of Islam’s enslaving faith.

Internal Revenue Preparing for More Church Investigations

The Freedom from Religion Foundation (FFRF) recently announced that the IRS will set up the procedures necessary to investigate “rogue political churches.”  Now the Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) is asking the IRS to reveal what these procedures are and how they (IRS) plan to determine which churches to investigate.

“So ADF asked for ‘all documents related to any existing, proposed, new, or adopted procedures for church tax inquiries or examinations from January 2009 to the present’ and well as documents relating to ‘Regulation 301.7611-1’ and those documents ‘referenced in FFRF’s July 17, 2014, press release.’” (WND.com, July 25, 2014)

The WND article continues:

“The IRS has suspended church investigations temporarily because of recent scandals in the last election. The IRS has been accused of targeting conservative churches and institutions in the past. The Alliance Defending Freedom is dedicated to holding the IRS accountable for its investigations.

“The anti-religion foundation mentioned ADF’s annual ‘Pulpit Freedom Sunday,’ an event to protest the Johnson Amendment, which ‘authorizes the IRS to regulate sermons and requires churches to give up their constitutionally protected freedom of speech in order to retain their tax-exempt status.’

“’The IRS cannot force churches to give up their precious constitutionally protected freedoms to receive a tax exemption,’ said ADF Senior Legal Counsel Erik Stanley, who heads Pulpit Freedom Sunday. ‘No one would suggest a pastor give up his church’s tax-exempt status if he wants to keep his constitutional protection against illegal search and seizure or cruel and unusual punishment. Likewise, no one should be asking him to do the same to be able to keep his constitutionally protected freedom of speech.’

Pulpit Freedom Sunday will be held Oct. 5 this year.”

It’s about time that conservative pastors not feel like they cannot pastor their churches in areas that involve government issues.

CNN News Blasted by Israeli Ambassador for Incomplete Reporting of Facts

Townhall.com reported on July 25, 2014, (about an interview that CNN did with Ron Dermer, Israeli Ambassador to the United States) that CNN is not reporting all of the facts about Israeli bombings on a UN school. While CNN shows the terrible photos of dead children and other civilians killed by Israeli bombs, that’s not all of the story.

Dermer said, “I’ve been listening for two hours of reports on CNN. I’ve seen split screens, horrible pictures, horrible pictures that any decent human being would be horrified by – I have not heard a single person say what I just said to you now. And, I think that that does a disservice to your viewers to not give them the context they need to make these judgments. Hamas is placing missile batteries in schools, in hospitals, in mosques – and there must be outrage by the world at Hamas to end this.”

While liberal media outlets try to paint Israel in the worst light, the facts about Islamic terrorists knowingly placing their own children at risk is uncivilized and barbaric. Dermer stated that Israel gave ample warning to get children out of the complex, but the warnings were ignored. The radical Muslims have no value of human life other than to sacrifice it for the destruction of their perverted ideology. Israel has no choice but to defend itself from these maniacs.

Missouri Church Cannot Honor National Guard

This just in from Foxnews.com (July 25, 2014).  A local church in Carthage, Missouri, decided to honor protective agencies in its area during Vacation Bible School. On Monday, they honored the paramedics, and the paramedics came. On Tuesday, they honored the fire department, and the firemen came. On Wednesday, they honored the sheriff’s department, and the K9 unit came. On Thursday, they wanted to honor the local National Guard, but:

“We were told it was against military policy for National Guard troops to participate in Vacation Bible School,” Pastor Hogan said. “They said if the National Guard had assets on church property it would look like the National Guard is sponsoring the Baptist religion.”

Pastor Hogan was upset that the children in his church could not honor the National Guard. “We are right in the middle of the United States of America,” the pastor said. “We are part of the Bible Belt. You read about this stuff going on in big cities. But in Carthage?…  They said they didn’t want to offend anybody. Well, it’s offended our whole church.”

Pastor Hogan was told this was a federal policy and that local guardsmen had no say-so in the matter. However, this past June “…the Department of Defense gave permission for a military color guard to march in Washington, DC’s gay pride parade. It marked the first time in history the U.S. Army Military District of Washington participated in the parade.

Thanks to the liberalization of America’s military, local National Guard Units are free to march in parades that honor perverted lifestyles, but they can’t appear on local church property when invited to show young people what it’s like to serve their country.

Governor Pat McCrory Urges Obama to Reform Illegal Immigration

Catholic Bishops Undergoing Exorcism Training

According to The Sentinal.com (July 22, 2014), forty Catholic bishops are undergoing “intensive” exorcism training at The University of Mexico.

“Italian Bishop Sante Babolin, who is leading the training along with a theologian and a psychiatrist, said he has conducted 1,650 exorcisms on 150 people (each case demands a series of exorcisms). He has succeeded 50 times, he said.”

What is meant by exorcisms? “Exorcisms, the cleansing of demons from a person or area, are ancient parts of several religions. In Catholicism, exorcisms are church-sanctioned — though rarely talked about — rituals done in the name of Jesus Christ.”

So here we have an apostate church that believes in a temporary purgatory and a works-based salvation, attempting to teach is leaders to cast demons out of Mexican Catholic Church members.

First Grader Expelled From School for Toy Gun Possession

First grader Darin Simak of New Kensington, Pennsylvania, accidently found a toy pistol in the outside pocket of his backpack at school. His mother packed his lunch that morning and used that particular backpack because the child’s newer one was at a friend’s house. Knowing that it’s against the rules for children to have even a play gun on school property, he took the toy gun to the teacher, who in turn took it to the principal’s office. The principal suspended the boy from school. (Triblive.com, June 5, 2014)

Concerning having a gun or replica of a gun on school property, public school policy states,  “the school district shall expel for a period of not less than one (1) year any student who violates this weapons policy. Such expulsion shall be given in conformance with formal due process proceedings required by law. The Superintendent may recommend modifications of such expulsion requirement on a case-by-case basis.”

Darin Simak did the right thing by letting his teacher know that he had the toy gun in his backpack. The school went too far in expelling the first grader. Not only is the school system trying to teach students that guns are bad, they are also exemplifying that honesty is not always the best policy.

Governor Pat McCrory Urges Obama to Reform Illegal Immigration

North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory and five other Republican governors sent a five-paragraph letter dated July 22 to President Obama urging him to increase efforts to stop the influx of illegal children from entering the United States. The governors refer to the present situation as a “crisis” and believe that unless more is done by Obama the numbers will increase. (Winston-Salem Journal, July 24, 2014)

According to the letter, the five governors are concerned that “there will be significant numbers who will end up using the public schools, social services and health systems largely funded by the states.”

Since money is already tight in North Carolina and attempts are being made to reform many state funded programs like Medicaid, the additional costs of supporting illegals will bring increasing burdens to taxpayers and the state government.

Jeb Bush Wants Republicans to Take Leadership on Immigration Reform

Florida Governor Jeb Bush writes in The Wall Street Journal (July 23, 2014) that illegal immigrant children must be sent home. He writes that the surge of illegals coming across the Mexican border is a failure of the Obama administration and that the Republican Party needs to take the lead in immigration reform.

Illegal immigration and the huge numbers of children and teens coming from Central America must be dealt with immediately. While compassionate cries of help are coming from various places in the United States, the country cannot financially support all the children below our border who decide they want to take advantage of our system. Legal immigration is the only deterrent to illegal immigration. Illegal immigration must not be rewarded when so many others have gone through the system by playing according to the rules. Everyone loses when illegals are not treated as illegals.

Homosexual Marriage Increasing in Canada

Veterans Clinic Forgets about Veteran

Jeffrey Duck arrived at the Orange County, Florida, Veterans Clinic at 1 PM on July 21. After waiting more than three hours, he became suspicious when he heard no sounds outside his door. When he went into the hallway, he discovered that everyone was gone. He went into the lobby and it was empty. He pulled out his cellphone to take videos of himself in the empty building and the alarm went off. He called 911 and informed them what had happened. The VA Clinic later issued an apology to Mr. Duck. (ClickOrlando.com)

This veteran was concerned about the VA because he knows the problems that the VA has been having in the news lately. However, the symbolism can’t be missed here. The VA Clinic forgot about the veteran.

Homosexual Marriage Increasing in Canada

Same-sex marriage was legalized in Canada in 2005. Since then, the number of homosexual marriages has steadily increased. According to The Huffington Post, “The number of same-sex marriages nearly tripled between 2006 and 2011, jumping from 7,465 to 21,015 couples, according to figures released by Statistics Canada…” (Huffington Post, 9/19/2012).  The number of homosexuals has not increased because of the legalization, but making homosexual marriage legal has caused homosexuals to come out for marriage licenses.

As homosexual marriages become legal in more and more states in the United States, the number of these marriages will continue to increase. The social landscape will change for sure. Legalizing homosexual marriage will make it more acceptable. According to LiveScience.com (June 26, 2013): “Studies show that the label of ‘marriage’ influences whether people view certain partnerships as ‘families,’ or not, (Brian)Powell said.”

In one study, Powell and colleagues asked more than 800 people whether they considered two partnered men living together without children a family. About a third said yes, but when told that the men were married, the percentage doubled to two-thirds.

Providing more legal rights to same-sex couples “…will ultimately lead to more people seeing same-sex couples as true families,” Powell said, who is an author of the book Counted Out: Same-Sex Relations and Americans’ Definitions of Family (Russell Sage Foundation, 2012).

Even though it seems that  homosexuality is everywhere today, the Canadian experience and American polls indicate that when and if homosexual marriage becomes legal nationwide, the nation will never be the same.
